There is an age-old belief that gemstones possess healing powers. This is thought to originate from the Ancient Sumerians, who would often use gemstones to make their magical formulas. The Ancient Egyptians also embraced the talismanic aspect of coloured gemstones, using lapis lazuli, turquoise, carnelian, emerald and clear quartz in their jewellery; the Egyptians also valued these gems for their link to protection and health, and believed that to unleash their full healing powers, gemstones should touch the skin. Fabergé has continued to embrace the spiritual aspect of gemstones and combined this with their well-known fondness for surprise and discovery. As such, each Colours of Love Healing Ring contains coloured gemstones concealed on the inside of its fluted band, enhancing the skin contact of the precious gems.
