Striking designs, intricate motifs, and flowing cuts that perfectly suit the modern woman of today define Azzalia’s latest Ramadan collection. Inspired by the shape of the Kazu (cashew) or paisley, the ‘Kazu’ collection uses the motif that forms an important part of the South Asian fashion culture.
“I was always surrounded by strong and progressive women. My grandmother was also one of them. She was an astute business woman who traded in fashion garments. She sourced fabrics from all over the world, especially India, and the Kazu motif was a recurrent theme on these gorgeous textiles.” Added Sheikha Amal AlMaktoum, founder and creative director of Azzalia.
Sheikha Amal AlMaktoum was always fascinated by the beauty, involution, and shape of this particular motif. Additionally, she had also seen the motif reappear several times in traditional UAE clothing as well, particularly in kaftans and long, flowing garments.
With Azzalia’s latest Ramadan collection, creative director Sheikha Amal decided to incorporate paisley in her gorgeous designs in a very subtle, contemporary, and minimalistic way by making use of 3D techniques. The collection offers uniquely styled pieces and combine a thought-provoking combination of bold and classic colors. These include mango, hot pink, tomato red, snow white, lavendar, silver cloud, and black.
The collection also showcases vibrant and intricate prints on black and white bases. This collection traverses through Azzalia’s three staple lines resulting in an amalgam of style that can match the fashion sensibilities of every woman, whether they are looking for more casual, semi-formals, or more vibrant luxury couture. “We have used a variety of fabrics for our Daisy line including pure cottons, printed rayons, and soft silks whereas our Lily line was exclusively focused on silks to create loose mariposa cuts, one shoulder dresses, beautiful gathers that add volume, oomph, and elegant movement in each of the pieces,” Sheikha Amal added.
The couture pieces of the latest collection use daring colours blended with bold metal embellishments that add an exquisite touch to them. The raw silks with their draping and folding combined with the antique paisley embellishments are sure to be showstoppers everywhere while the casuals will uplift any look.
The latest collection carries more than 30 styles, giving the Azzalia woman a chance to stand out this Ramadan. The brand will launch new looks for the upcoming Eid season, and its travel wear and resort collections.
