Reception The New Harrods Exclusive by Amouage The Omani perfume house Amouage has a new fragrance. It is called Reception.
This scent is an expression of deep generosity. It is an exclusive creation for Harrods.
Reception The Spirit of Hospitality
Middle Eastern hospitality is legendary. Guests are honoured and treated with great kindness. Being a host is a privilege. Sharing generosity is seen as a blessing.
Amouage was founded in 1983. The brand embodies these values. It shares the generosity of its home, Oman, with the world. This is why its creations are called the “Gift of Kings.”
This spirit inspired the new perfume.
Reception A Genuine Partnership

Harrods has a 175-year history. It has always been a key partner for Amouage. Oman’s beloved perfume house has long showcased its work in the store.
Amouage’s Chief Creative Officer is Renaud Salmon. He wanted to create a tribute to this relationship. A perfume inspired by generosity was the perfect choice.
“I knew that the only way such a project would work,” he says, “was if the perfume was entirely true to the values of both Harrods and Amouage.”
An Inspiration from History
Salmon needed the tribute to be authentic. He delved into the store’s history. He visited the Harrods archive near the Knightsbridge store. There, he found a treasure trove of documents and images.
Salmon was immediately struck by Harrods’ original motto. It was Omnia Omnibus Ubique—‘All things for all people, everywhere.’
He also saw the image of a horn of plenty. It offered riches to the world. “The parallel to Omani generosity and hospitality was immediate and profound,” Salmon noted.
This idea of plentifulness became the core of the fragrance. It would be an invitation to the warmest, most inclusive gathering imaginable.
Reception – An Invitation to All
French perfumer Pierre Negrin composed the scent. Reception opens with a luminous greeting. It is like a door opening to a long-awaited guest.
A Welcoming Opening
A rich Coffee note offers a warm embrace. It makes you feel instantly welcome. Lemon and Pine add bright contrast. Pink Pepper, Coriander, and Juniper add a spicy touch.
A Soulful Heart
The scent then enters its most soulful phase. Notes of Frankincense, Patchouli, and Cedarwood emerge. They express timeless friendship and strong bonds.
A Lasting Impression
Finally, a warm base lingers. Vanilla, Cypriol, and Musk create an unending glow. The spirit of generosity remains long after the gathering ends.
The Generosity of Time: The Essences Collection
The Essences collection launched in 2024. It represents a true innovation.
For Reception, the perfume concentrate was infused for six months. It was mixed with high-grade Sandalwood chips. This process gives the scent a remarkable smoothness.
At the same time, the alcohol was aged. It spent six months in custom-made oak barrels. This double-infusion technique is a first in modern perfumery. It creates a scent of extraordinary complexity.
Bespoke Packaging and Presentation
Reception comes in the striking Essences flacon. The bottle features vertical, desert-inspired ridges. From above, it looks like the twelve-pointed Amouage emblem.
The bottle’s label is in the iconic Harrods green. The box features an abstract hourglass. It references the importance of time in the collection.
The outer sleeve was designed by artist Louise Mertens. It features abstract art in shades of Harrods green. This is a final tribute to an exceptional collaboration.
