For the Oscar de la Renta Pre-Fall 2023 collection, Co-Creative Directors Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia explore the essence of summer through bold hues, floral emblems and intricate detail similarly found in the wildlife that flourishes during these warmer months.
Nasturtiums, Kim’s favorite culinary flower, beam in yellow, orange and red embroidery and prints to ignite the color story of the collection, most notably on a silk twill plaid dress and pantsuit.
A clustered degrade lilac print decorates the silhouettes of chiffon caftans, silk faille day dresses, and a corseted gown, as vibrantly as the flower blooms itself.
Rosette embroidery progressively grows into 3D embellishments, seamlessly traveling down corseted bodices to tangible full floral skirts. Bright pops of fuchsia, as seen in the central collection flower, the dahlia, and a multicolor knit skirt set echo the playful exuberance of the time of year.
A raffia cupcake cocktail dress and corseted full skirt dress sway along with the body while worn, paralleling nature’s unrestrained spirit.
Deep burgundy dahlia’s and ombre jewel tones allude to the preparation for autumn, while evening gowns, such as a bright orange floral and leaf embroidered off the shoulder gown and a gold sequin rosette embroidered column gown and cape profess an excitement for the many warm months ahead.
A firefly sequin embroidered midnight blue tulle gown and a metallic violet lame twist drape gown conclude the collection with the same vivacity felt on a summer night.
