The fashion world’s shift toward sustainability gains momentum with Tyler Ellis’s unique line of eco-friendly handbags. These pieces are meticulously handcrafted in custom apple skin leather, a versatile, new plant-based material.
This innovative leather substitute was developed by the Italian ecological textile developer, Mabel Srl. Its production utilizes a patented process by FRUMAT to recover and transform industrial waste: specifically, fibers derived from the industrial processing of apples used in the jam and juice industry.
This circular economy approach yields significant benefits. Not only does it effectively reduce waste management costs and minimize environmental damage, but it also provides a high-quality, DMF-free leather substitute. Crucially, using this material helps lower the emissions and energy consumption often associated with the production chains of traditional leather alternatives.
