Designed as a creative space, Atelier des Fleurs collection by Chloé reveals the unknown facets of well-known flowers, merging nature with culture in a spirit of artistic effervescence.
It draws on the free-spirited, pioneering vision of Gaby Aghion who, in 1952, was inspired by the vibrant intellectual and artistic scene of the Parisian Left Bank to establish the House of Chloé. As with the silhouettes of the fashion House, each composition of Atelier des Fleurs celebrates natural beauty and flowing motion. The plissé soleil, an iconic emblem of the House, takes shape as an olfactory signature, revealing a radiant floral glow.
The revelation of a cedar
With Cedrus, Atelier des Fleurs reveals the unexplored facets of cedar, a noble and emblematic wood of the perfumer’s palette. The perfumer Quentin Bisch crafted a fragrance of ultimate fluidity, achieved through a daring trio of cedar, vetiver, and sandalwood. Together, cedar and sandalwood create an enveloping, textured sensation, evoking the softness of a silky wood. Cedar, traditionally known as dry, transforms into a surprisingly supple material. This embodied wood enters into subtle tension with abstract florality. Reminiscent of Chloé’s creations, this fragrance is illuminated by vetiver and the effervescence of pink peppercorns. The creamy texture, enriched with benzoin, is enhanced by ambertolide for a musky touch. Cedrus reveals itself as an exceptional woody fragrance, in which cedarwood expresses itself in a new light: soft, balsamic and ambery, enriched by a vertical floral breath.
A new bottle by Anne-Sophie Barlet
The iconic essence has been reinvented in a limited edition bottle designed by the French artist Anne-Sophie Barlet. The fashion illustrator sublimated the bottle’s label and box, drawing inspiration from the fluidity and texture of cedar, while exploring the brand’s visual and creative universe. The design harmoniously merges luminosity and contrast, echoing Chloé’s timeless aesthetic.
Like the surprising composition of the Cedrus fragrance, the illustration for this limited edition reveals a subtle juxtaposition. Graceful, almost diaphanous cedar branches, drawn in free, airy lines, are contrasted with incisive brushstrokes, evoking the needles of the ‘cedar heart’. Created with spontaneity, the drawing combines fresh, luminous shades of green, sandy beiges with rosy hues, and powdery browns, executed in watercolour and enhanced by vibrant touches of opaque black. This delicate interplay of colours and textures, applied by hand with ink and pen, embodies the ultimate suppleness of the note.
In this limited edition, the bottle reveals the delicate nuances of the fragrance through its glass walls. The textured cap, in a soft beige hue, evokes both the colour and texture of sand, one of Gaby Aghion’s greatest inspirations.
